Medicare --  By Robert Pear in the New York Times --  "Researchers Find Huge Variations in End-of-Life Treatments" -- Pear summarizes new research by The Dartmouth Atlas of Health Care which indicates that the costs of chronic ilness and end-of-life treatment vary significantly from hospital to hospital and region to region.  This raises the possibility that Medicare could find another cost savings area in these fiscally challanging times.   (Read)
