Caregiving -- By Abigail Zuger, MD, in the New York Times -- "For the Very Old, a Dose of 'Slow Medicine'" -- Dr. Zuger writes an excedllent review of a book by Dennis McCullough, MD, which suggests a different type of care for the elderly--one which is family oriented and less expensive. Dr. Zuger says, "This medicine is specifically not intended to save lives or to restore youthful vigor, but to ease the inevitagle irreversible decline of the very old." It's time for the families of the very old to heed the information in this outstanding article. (Read)
