Medicare --- Modern Healthcare Online -- "Medicare spending surged in 2006" -- Oh, Oh, the scary numbers are now in.  This article quotes a new report from CMS actuaries indicating that Medicare spending increased 18.7% in 2006.  Forget the percentage.  Use the actual numbers--Medicare spending grew from $338 billion in 2005 to over $401 billion in 2006.  That's real money.  (Read)
